Absolutely superb for my needs
mabenfer 12.05.2020
I'm a hobby musician and will never be anything but that. However, I played baritone sax in high school and have missed the instrument a lot. It's possible to pick up a relatively cheap alto or tenor, but those just aren't the same for someone who most enjoys playing the bass line. A quality used baritone sax (heck, ANY used baritone sax) is impossible to find at a price affordable for a non-professional. A new and affordable one? Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd find it.
But here it is. I'm incredibly pleased with this saxophone.
I simply can't understand that something this good can be available at this price. I hesitated a long time before buying, because it's certainly not free. But it's less than half the price of anything else I've found worth considering, and it's WHOLLY worth the money. It's a solid build with great sound and nice key work, not only to my non-professional ears and fingers, but also to those of my brother-in-law, who plays sax semi-professionally.
You'll probably want a new mouthpiece and ligature, but that's about it. The saxophone itself is of great quality.
If you've longed for a baritone sax simply because you love the instrument, but you never thought you could afford one, you're in luck. Thomann has you covered.

I am delighted with this baritone sax, The Thomann TBS-150 for the money is great. To be fair it is the second bari, As the first one sent had a few minor cosmetic problems & the octave mechanism was a bit stiff, But they replaced it no bother, I love it! There is a video on Youtube from Better Sax - a guy called Jay Metcalfe reviews a bari sax made by a company in China, I think they must make them for Thomann, & they are identical, He really rates them, check it out.

Very pleased with this baritone.
funkysoulmate 26.02.2018
Couldn't be happier. Did a lot of research first before I ordered this baritone sax from Thomann (TBS150).
Seems that my calculated gamble worked out like a charm.
This sax is of outstanding quality. The key work is not Selmer?s, nor Yanagisawa?s, but not so far off of the key work of my tenor.
I needs getting used to, but the sound is fantastic, intonation is great and it is of absolute staggering quality.
It's hard to understand that such quality for such a low price is even feasible.
Well, maybe because the case is of poor quality? The lining of the accessories compartment is broken. Looks a mess.
The velvet feels harsh and the foam hard. It also smells kinda petroleum like. The outside of the casing is doable.
But the sax itself is gorgeous. I had a baritone 10 years ago, sold it, because I couldn?t get used to the left pinky cluster (old Buesscher).
This one has modern key work, is mechanically sound and plays beautiful in the complete range. No leaks whatsoever from factory setup. That?s truly amazing.
I have no idea how long the regulation will hold or if corks will start to fall off. But for now, best buy ever.
And thanks to Thomann for the quick delivery.

Great saxophone for this price

The saxophone is good. I honestly did not expect something this good for this low of a price. If you are on a budget and want to get a bari sax this is for you.

Splendid horn, sloppy springs
Digvalley1 20.10.2023
Having used the horn for close to half a year, I can safely say it is a safe buy. It plays well and has an awesome value.

Beware / Cons :
-Thumb hook and thumbrest is metal, so outdoors playing can be uncomfortable if slightly cold.
-Very un-even spring pressure. Some keys are absolute dishes and others barely have enough force to return key. Still plays.
-In my case (hehe) it arrived with a bent key (upper RH palm key) to the point it would also press another key when used. Luckily said key is not used (yet). Sadly support were dismissive of this.

Pros :
-Great sound
-Splendid value / Very good price
-Plays decent (especially given price)

*Not able to comment on stock mouthpiece or reed as they were promptly replaced by after market options

Saucy groovy bari sax
Itoume 25.03.2024
This bari sax is designed similarly to the yanigasawa modelled bari sax. It feels great, plays awesome, has that bari groove to it. It has some issues in intonation with the low C#, and some of the springs fall out occasionally. Nothing that you can't work around. Overall for the price, it is pretty amazing, I had to switch from a yani to the thomann, and honestly after 1 week of getting used to it. It's a worthy competitor, I highly recommend this.
