cheap bongos
alejandro312 18.02.2020
I got these bongos just to play around and develop some percussion skills. Given the price, I was not expecting a super product, but I got dissapointed for these reasons:
1. The instrument does not come with a turning key. Thus, when you get the instrument out of the box, you cannot play with it nicely until you get a tool. I complained to Thomann about this issue, given that in one of the reviews (from 2014), someone mentioned that the bongoset came with a turning key. Thomann fastly replied and told me that the instrument does not come with the key anymore. So, be aware that if you get it, you also order a turning key (these are very cheap).
2. After the second use, the "metal" strip on the bottom of one of the bongos came out. This was because the nails that keep together the strip to the wood were loose. I fixed it by changing the position of the nails (using a hammer).

3. After tensioning the leathers, the metal structure started to bend.

It is a cheap instrument with poor quality materials. I would advice to spend some euros more and go for a better option.

Great start to adding some real percussion to your sounds!
midinotes 31.05.2014
I wanted to add some natural percussion to my tracks. Not being a professional percussionist I was reluctant to spend too much, these bongoes from Thomann are fantastic value for money. The sound is great as is the construction, they also look fab in my home studio! Well made they include a key for tensioning the skins, nice chrome plated metal and varnished two tone wood frames with proper hide skins. Definitely one to put on all budding drummer and finger tappers wish list!

It sounds nice and it is a affordable option for non professional musicians. It seems robust but the quality is a little below what you expect for a Thomann instrument. The materials area bit poor.

Fine for use at home

These bongos look good, and sound ok but didn't really stand up to sustained use very well. Both skins cracked within 6 months which was disappointing. May be better suited to children.

great value for the price

if you are less than a beginner, i.e. if you want to play Bongos at the park with friends, then even empty jars do. The Thomann Bongos sound way better than jars, and come at a super fair price. And with the tuning key, too

These are a nice cheap set of bongos. You won't be blown away by the sound, but if you want something cheap to start you off, these are the thing to go with
