Overall great mic for starters
Soma328 28.03.2018
I bought this mic 2 years ago in a bundle, I use it at home, for recording vocals, guitar, bass, flute and other instruments, also for making youtube videos and streaming on twitch. I really like the warm sound it gives to my voice. The large condenser capsule fits really nice for vocals, and stringed instruments.

It`s really cheap. You get exactly what you need for starting a youtube channel or a podcast or if you want to get in music production.
The build quality is excellent. It`s made out of a durable aluminium, the capsule is protected by a strong aluminium mesh. It fell once or twice but it survived perfectly without any damage in the electronics or on the outside.
It`s an USB microphone, plug and play, so no drivers needed, but you can install ASIO drivers for low-latency monitoring.
I use it in Audition and Ableton live, it simply works.
I really like the sound it produces, and it looks and feels professional.

There is a little bit of hissing going on, but i think it`s the drawback of the condenser mics overall not just this model. You can easily remove the noise by recording a few seconds of silence, and then running a noise reduction in Audition or even in a free program called Audacity. If you plan on recording multiple instrumens and vocals, you could remove the hissing in an equalizer, just turn down the 50-60Hz frequency where the hissing is going on.

Overall I really like this mic, it`s the best for this price!

D
Brilliant - for the price it can not be beat
DaMusicMan 21.05.2020
I was looking to record some acoustic guitar- tried the cassette tape but, the quality in the finished recording not the best- decided to use the computer but needed a good mic- I researched the mic's available in a particular price range- after reading the specs of a handful, I decided this t-bone SC440 USB would be the perfect fit- I have order from Thomann numerous times so was not surprised the about the quickness of the order- The mic itself is very impressive - reminds me of all the up market studio mic's I have used in the past- Depending on the software program, it is really a simple plug and play mic. It did take a few practice takes to get the levels I was happy with regarding picking up the acoustic guitar, the vocals the same, BUT, the end result was exactly what I was hoping for- Two thumbs up to Thomann for a brilliant piece of kit- by the way, one will never go wrong with the description on the web site- Thanks

AS
Fabulous microphone!
Allan Shearer 14.02.2021
So far, I have bought 2 of these ... and I am about to buy a 3rd only because my friend loved it so much that he is taking my 2nd mic, so, I need to replace it.
SOLIDLY built ... nice and weighty ... excellent 'feel quality'. Does NOT feel cheap. But what is most important, of course, is the sound quality - and it is TOP quality!
We use these mics for doing video production, singing/recording, and video-conferencing. Everyone who hears what we produce is amazed at this mic - and cannot believe that it costs so little!
For our needs ... we don't need an 'expensive' mic, but, we are DELIGHTED with something like this that is both WELL built AND low-price.
I'm now off to buy my 3rd!! :)

SS
Surprisingly good.
Sebastian Schuth (Cubica Sound) 21.10.2021
I was relentless to try USB condenser Microphones, because I come from the past generation of Microphones. So I decided to try a cheap kit, and two months later, I have been gladly impressed. It is rugged, the case does protect the microphone, and the sound is very adequate for a polar cardioid. I still would argue that this type of mics are NOT always for musicians, because they lack the connectivity that an XLR cable offers.

A great bit of kit
asaguda 10.10.2015
I'll preface this review by saying I am pretty much in love with this. I had a Blue Snowball before this one, but on account of wanting a boom since my Snowball setup was awkward, I decided to look for something new.

Enter this microphone. The SC 440 sounds a little warmer and thus more natural in tone than the Snowball, and costs less. It also comes with a moulded, padded case with an anti-vibration mount for no extra cost, when some others charge a fortune for such a thing.

It's solid and heavy, feels well built, is all metal (Though you wouldn't want to drop it, as with any condenser mic) and has served me since January this year. It only has a single mode, that being Cardioid, but at the price this is no concern. In fact, for the price, this is a very, VERY good sounding microphone. And it's USB, so you just plug it in, tweak the volume and off you go.

I have a rather noisy computer, with multiple case fans working at all times, which the mic obviously picks up. But with proper position, I can get it quiet enough where most people phase it out in moments over Skype and no longer notice. Also, voice chat via something like Discord or Teamspeak, that has noise reduction, sounds crystal clear.

I haven't had a single issue with this mic as of yet, and therefore I consider this an absolutely amazing piece of kit for the price. For people like me who want a little extra oomph in their voice chat, streams, games, videos or podcasts, this does the trick and it doesn't break the bank.

With low budget and passion to sing - this was a good beginner microphone. But quality-wise not very good,

P
Well built, great perfomance
Paul5933 17.06.2016
This is a great mic for a great price.

The mic is supplied in a very solid, padded plastic case that contains the mic, a USB cable and the spider. It also contains a specification/performance sheet.

The mic is well put together and feels very solid, nothing moves or creaks when handled.

Performance wise I have used it for providing voice overs to youtube videos and for recording guitar.

On voice over work it provides a very natural tone, it has a wide and dymanic range. Pickup is clear from a distance and it handles plosive consonants well without a pop shield, from a distance (you should still use one, especially for singing and close to mic work). I have previously used the built in mic on my mac for recording voice and the difference is instantly noticeable. Background noise is also very well contained.

When using with a guitar I pair it with a T-Bone MB-75, using the condenser to pickup ambient sound. I have found that this combination works well and although I am still experimenting I am excited by what the condenser brings in (the recorded sound seems more open and dynamic).

The USB cable supplied is very robust and rubberized - easily long enough for most applications. The connections on both the cable and the microphone are solid and well made.

The spider gives a solid mounting platform and prevents a n hooks up well to a mic stand.

The overall package can be quite heavy so you will need to use a solid mic stand (or table top mount).

On the Mac the mic works instantly, no drivers are required and being USB you do not need to worry about phantom power

Overall very pleased with this microphone, it feels like a high quality product and performs like one.

The t.bone
PZaett 14.02.2014
First of all, this microphone is very good. It just has a few minor problems.
The soundquality is good. I use it on a daily basis. Mostly for Teamspeak and sometimes for recording. It's a USB Microphone. That means, you can plug it directly into your PC without anything between them. This technique has a few problems. I can't regulate this microphone. I just can regulate how loud it records. Everything below 90 % is to quiet. I have to use it at 100 %, if I want people to understand me. But everything in my whole flat can be heard. Even my neighbours are recorded. This is my biggest problem with it, but with a price like this, i really can't complain about it.

Almost good with some problems
Jugi 13.03.2020
Sound is ok, you need to be very close to it for it to pick up any sound, and still you need to have it maxed out in OS and software settings.

If put firmly in it's own holder it sometimes gets some interference (constant low pitched sound), this doesn't happen if held in the stand loosely.

Other than that, you get what you pay for.

Basic but good value for money
Chris429 18.06.2013
I bought this for my daughter to use at home. She uses it to record demos and basic song ideas in Garage Band before recording them properly at my friends studio.

Whilst I'm no expert, I have to say that I was surprised at how good this mic is, considering how little it costs. It comes in a decent moulded and padded case, complete with a sprung cradle and USB cable. Build quality looks to be good, the body and grille are all metal, and whilst I wouldn't want to drop it, it seems fine for home use.

Sound quality is surprisingly good. The only thing lacking is a switchable filter, but at this price you can hardly expect that.
