Ovid Case
Johnf52 07.08.2015
Was somewhat surprised that this case turned up empty and I had to populate it myself, with all the accessory clips arriving individually packed in blister packs!

The case itself is very neat with proper hinges and decent catches similar to those found on a Shure Drum Mic case.
I did find that some of the cut outs were a little difficult to use and the section where the mic itself is supposed to fit was both a little bit tight and the cut out in the foam did not fit the mic capsule exactly requiring the cable to be bent over a little, which is not what I was expecting and if care is not taken, long term, could lead to damage as the "curl" if not carefully attended could get trapped in the hinge!. The cut out in the foam that comes with original mic packaging is just different enough from the cut out
in the case, on careful inspection, to cause this issue.

Other than this, all the other adapters and clips fit well in their allocated slots. The drum clip however is empty and no clip for this adapter was in the box of individual clips that came separately, so not sure if there should have been one or not.

Request: When someone buys a "complete" case, please guys send it already full!

the t.bone Ovid System Case
Arsen_Saryyev 22.03.2024
I purchased the t.bone Ovid System Case to protect my microphones and provide convenient and safe storage and transportation. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality and functionality of this case.

The first thing that pleased me was the quality of the materials and the sturdiness of the construction. The case is made of durable and wear-resistant material that protects the microphones well from bumps, scratches and other damages during transportation.

The second thing is the internal structure of the case. It is designed to keep the microphones securely inside the case, preventing them from moving around and getting damaged during transportation. There are separate compartments for each microphone, as well as storage space for cables and accessories.

Third, is the ease of use. The case has a convenient carrying handle and zippered closure, making it easy to use and easy to transport.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the t.bone Ovid System Case microphone case. It provides solid protection for my microphones, is well organized and easy to use. I would recommend it to all owners of the t.bone Ovid System microphones who are looking for a quality and reliable case to store and transport them.

Ok but...

Pretty reasonable quality case - has proper hinge and sliding catches (not just relying on flexing the moulded plastic as a hinge until it breaks).

Sections for more adaptors than I'll ever get. Perhaps unnecessarily stiff to get in and out at the moment. The flute mount needs to be put at exactly the right circumference which is fiddly whether or not the velcro is stuck to itself.

A flaw seems to be that a normal cable for the Ovid mic (the removable type) is too big to fit in the space that's left for it - I'm likely to have to go at the foam with a knife to make it fit.

Pros:
Good quality for a plastic case

Cons:
Mic cable doesn't fit well
Flute clip fussy to store
More expensive to buy in an Ovid bundle (£10) than separately (£8.50)

good quality for the price

Not bad microphone at all, cheap and easy to set up, nice warms sounding. With the clip it doesn't really influences the sound of the instrument. The only bad thing that i can point to is the cable which is ridiculously thin and fragile. If you have a gig on a crowded stage any wrong step can just rip the cable

High quality at the right price

Some background information first.
I provide AV for small and medium sized corporate & live music events.
I have used DPAs in the past but can’t justify the cost of them for non rider work. My gigs need to sound as good as they possibly can but it does not make sense to spend €500+ on clip-on microphones when they are being used for rentals or being handled by some less experienced musicians.
The Ovid system is a significant upgrade from using microphones on boom stands. I found they gave me a nice clean balanced sound with very little work needed on the desk.
I will definitely add some more of these as well as the additional instrument clips to make them more versatile. My only slight reservation is the cable that connects the micro XLR - then again, even the far more expensive options have the same type of mini cable.
Highly recommended for gigging musicians or rental companies looking to step into clip on mics without breaking the bank.

Large but solid
Mickey Mack 12.06.2018
I purchase the case as part of a bundle. The bundle included a t.bone Ovid CC 100 mic and I bought the case to protect the mic during transit between live performances.

Pros:
(1) The plastic design is strong and, together with padding, it provides ample protection to the contents inside (mic)
(2) The custom cut foam inserts fit the mic, mini-XLR, clip and accessories perfectly
(3) Despite its relatively large size, the case is very light and its weight is negligible, which makes transport easy

Cons:
(1) I purchased the case with a single clip (for guitar) and the size of the case is quite large for what it contains. If you use the mic with a full set of clips, for other instruments, the size of the case is justifiable.

Overall the case fulfils its intended purpose i.e. it provides reliable protection for the Ovid mic system. I would particularly recommend it to anyone who uses the Ovid system with a full compliment of clips that need protection during transit.

They do their job

The sound is surprisingly good. A lot of lows, but that works well live. In studio I have my doubts. The only problem is the finishing, a bit low quality. Don't know how much time it will endure. But I highly reccomend if you want something cheaper than the DPAs. They do their job

Sturdy but misshapen inside
Smooooth 03.03.2018
This case is used for transporting a CC 100 microphone and its various clips in a variety of situations, and is generally suitable for most. The exterior of the product is made of good, strong plastic, with sliding locks that click reassuringly into place. Inside, the protective foam is more than adequate, as are the majority of the snug-fitting slots designed for their respective instrument clips and the phantom power adapter. It is however the space provided for the microphone itself that contains the single significant issue with this case, leaving no apparent means of safely tucking away the short, fragile cable connecting the condenser to its gooseneck. As other reviewers have noted this unfortunately presents the problem of the cable becoming caught in the hinge of the case or becoming irrevocably bent as one attempts to store it as intended. No provision is made for the main length of wire to the phantom adapter either, but this becomes less of a concern with some creative wrapping and folding. The large barcode sticker on the front of the case is somewhat unsightly but this is ultimately only a cosmetic concern, as is the mess made by attempting to remove it.

The case is actually a all inc. case with room for your mic, phantom alimentation, clips etc. The spaces are a bit narrow, I actualy widened them a bit with the tip of my finger, but at least it holds all the parts in place!

The case itself is quite light too, which is great since I usually use public transportations for the rehearsals, so weight has to be taken into consideraton too!

It is good

Considering it's 10 euro price, it is a good case. Very plastic fantastic, but It does feel like it can protect the mic inside. Clicks shut well, It feels difficult to open by accident. It has got holes for a cable lock.
