Wow sound from a budget snare
Anonymous 14.07.2016
This piccolo snare is incredible value for money.
I was surprised at the quality of the fittings and even the skins when I took it out of the box.

It feels robust and has a reassuring weight (unless you like your snare as light as a feather, then you won't be quite as happy).

The online sound is very good and reflects the actual acoustic sound of this drum. Well Done Thomann!

The snare tightens/slackens to a very satisfactory level for me delivering either a "sloppy slap" of a snare sound, or a "tight crack" cutting through everything else on stage. This is my first piccolo snare and I was a little anxious as to whether I would really like it, but when comparing it to my 5" depth snare, it is not hugely different in overall pitch/tone - I guess it comes down to the general tuning to some extent.

I will change the top skin for an Evans to gain some tone but for an out-of-the-box batter head I was fairly pleased.

I am genuinely happy with this snare and happily recommend to anyone considering adding a piccolo to their set-up.

Great drum for a great price!
Murdock_Music 20.01.2018
I replaced the stock snare on my Mapex Tornado with this. This is an AMAZING snare drum for 55 euro! It is very nice and crisp. It would have sounded good with a big of moongel on the stock head. However, I replaced the stock head with an Evans Black Hydraulic head and put on a Gibralter 42 strand snare wire. It has a super crisp cracking sound with no snare buzz. For a more jazzy tone the stock snare wire would suit just fine. I have played alot of picollo snares and this is as good as any of them. I had a Tama picollo snare that wasn't half as good as this. The only picollo I played that sounded better than this was a pearl picollo with a floating head. That drum cost 8 x the price as this little beauty!

Surprising producy by Millenium
FraeuleinBoe 01.03.2016
In the meanwhile I tested some product of the company Millenium. To tell the truth: I do not really like this brand at all. I tested a lot of drum cymbal stands that were not really stable and other things I did not really like. But the Millenium 14" x 3,5" Piccolo Steel Snare was really surprising me. For such a low price you get a quite proper sounding snare drum. Of course it is not a great masterpiece but in relation to its price this snare drum is really good. With different pressures etc. you can create different sounds. So if you need a low priced snare drum: I recommend this one.

K
Small drum, big sound!
Kārlis 12.03.2019
I wanted to have a picolo type side snare. Because of the good price and good reviews I just went for it.
Just with a little bit of tunning the sound was amazing right out of the box.
In no time this snare became my main snare while I put my ludwig supralite ( also an amazing snare ) to the side.

Versatile sound. Amazing for rock music. Good for jazz, hip-hop, r&b, funk. Can be loud as hell with little effort ;) Great ghost note sound with high tunning.

only one minus: the trow-off sometimes doesn't work all the way, so I have to use my hands to get the snares off. But this is barely a problem for such a great sound and price!
Highly recommend this one!!!
