I wish it had a second input, but they do their job

What to say: they are powerful, they sound great, automatic equaliser is well engineered, and while still being monitors and shooting back at you a neutral sound, you still get a pleasant round dynamic if you just want to enjoy some music. I use them sometimes with a stage piano, sometimes I try to produce my own music on Logic and this ranges jazz to full-out electro, I play the sax (incl. digital) and I sing. And of course, I also enjoy heavy gaming. At least to my ears, I enjoy the sound better than my previous Yamaha HS series, but that's just me. I have two of them and in an apartment it's more than plenty, round and louder than needed. I don't think I would enjoy a single monitor, though, it's still very compact and it benefits from support in the lower frequencies, either a second monitor (works great) so you can keep power low and still enjoy strong loud frequencies, or if you have an old sub lying around (like I did) it's even better. They're not cheap, I don't think I would have paid for an extra sub, though, two pieces run at almost 700EUR, a decent sub is another 300, at 1k EUR I guess there's plenty of options.

One last comment: they are small and look great. My home studio is for everyone to see, this one variable made the difference with my wife.

Great buy, they're here to stay.

I'm using these in the white version in my living room so they blend against the wall.
The sound is amazing, rich and specious
I also use them as monitors plugged into my Quad Cortex when I'm playing guitar and they work just find - saving a cabin space
highly recommended !

Do not ever raise the volume on these puppies !
Anonymous 18.11.2023
You can´t take away that these have fantastic sound - up to the moment you raise the volume a bit. And I am saying a bit, not even a lot. The rear reflex port will start emitting a most unpleasant sound - and that´s that, really. Forget about ever listening to anything above a polite sound level. I can not see any way out of this, except buying a quality subwoofer and freeing the MTMs from the lower spectrum. Not really what I expected and for - at that point - over 1300 combined with a decent subwoofer there are a lot of options out there.

I was aware that clipping would also occur at far, far less than ear splitting levels - but again, I was shocked how soon that really was. And trust me, I am not listening to my mixes at very high volume.

So again, are these worth the price, considering that you will never, ever be able to play them semi-loud, or with a decent bass ? I don´t think so, and can definitely not recommend them, even with the gorgeous mid and high, all the more when considering what is out there around the same price.

Great sound, fatal flaws
El Mano 05.06.2021
TLDR; Dont buy these speakers due to poor quality controll (coil whine at 220v).

Despite their size, these speaker can deliver good audio. Perfect for the small home office where you want good sound, but dont necessarily have the perfect environment. I am no pro, but the sound coming out of these speakers are fantastic (again, considering the size). Positioning is excellent, details are fair and I dont feel that there is a need for a subwoofer when listening at moderate levels. If you really want to blast these speakers you can, but you'll run into some port chuffing and need to EQ down the lower bass response limit.

Despite this, I would not recommend anyone buying these speakers right now due to coil whine, which seems to be a recurring problem on the IK-forums. Having tried firmware updates, switching cables and breaker groups/rooms, the problem persists and If you are dependent on the speakers to deliver a relaxing or critical presentation, I would give them a hard pass. I will be returning the speakers and hoping that an exchange will alleviate the problem, but it is a bit of a gamble AFAIK.
