Amazing sound for the size
OKNA 06.12.2018
Took 10 days for the package to arrive from one side of Europe to the other side from order to receiving goods, gear was packed ultra carefully and everything was OK.

At first tried them on the desk in default mode using Focusrite Scarlett, sound was good but because of zero acoustic treatment you couldn't "feel" them in room. Loads of vibrations were running around on higher volumes (can't imagine how bad it would be with a speaker without ISO-pod) It all changed 101% when they got mounted on Genelec Z8000-409B floor stands without any hassle.

Sound turned to amazing because monitors got raised to ear level and the vibrations also disappeared (slightly loosy radiator for example). The bass got more punchy and the lower HZ also became to live. I was immediately fascinated by the speaker size and the sound output it can deliver. Highs and mids are perfectly balanced with just enough of bass. Really good monitors to listen for example to ambient or music thats not 100% oriented around bass. Nonetheless no problems with outputting some wicked drum&bass tunes.

Keep in mind these speakers are for smaller rooms and if you need lots of low end you should buy bigger monitors or add a 7040A subwoofer, which fits perfectly with Genelec 8010-8020 models.

If I ever need any more gear then Thomann is the way to go ;)

Class A+ speaker, w 7050B sub it's all another story
sem92 07.04.2018
These Speaker are quite flat after all. I've measured within Smaart, not that bad for beeing such a small cabinet. I've actually had to turn the volume pot at -6dB because the audio interface will saturate the amplifier otherwise. I've using this with a 7050B subwoofer, so as a 2.1 system this is spectacular. The 7050B is only add the octave below, but it's in phase with the system tops, and really can be fisically felt, it' a bigger and substantial difference between a bigger ( such as a 8" or 7") studio monitor. For better results I've done a calibration with reference 4 to have the flattest frequency and phase response. If u had a small space desk i suggest go to these kind of solution instead bigger systems, you have better control of the power and the sound definition than bigger monitors one.
Really good, for a 1.5k price is flowless experience

More excellent than 8010,there is a feeling of amazing.
Richard 138568 04.05.2018
I also bought 8010a this time, covet 8010 of the small cute, easy to carry, but there are concerns that the sound is too small, after all, 3 inch small stereo, so also bought 8020d. I wanted to buy 8030c, but I thought the desktop was a bit big, and I chose 8020d after repeated trade-offs and bought two pairs. The fact proved that my choice was very correct. First, I felt better on the resolution than 8010a, the sound field was bigger, and the size advantage made the bass more satisfactory. In short, desktop multimedia use is still more recommended 8020d, at this price can be said to be the best.

I got these as I had to downsize my setup after a move. Was previously using Yamaha HS8 (sold-too big), and then iloud micro (NICCEEE) in the interim period, which is now being used as recreational pair of speakers due to bluetooth capabilities.

8020D was about as big as I could go with my current space limitations, and presently I'm on a tiny desk up against the wall in a corner while I set up my other small room to be a home studio.

Used the dip switches on the back to adjust to the room and placement as much as I could.

Speakers sound amazing and huge. Clear and detailed with great imaging. I can close my eyes and a solo acoustic performance feels like it's happening in front of me, almost as if I can reach out and touch the guitar. Hip hop and RnB is also rendered beautifully with nice, tight bass. I could go on but I'll stop.

I will eventually add the sub, because I can. But if I couldn't, I would still be very happy. The Moog still sounds FAT through these. Easily the best pair of speakers I've owned.

Let's be honest.
SSaZae 03.07.2021
Low frequency below 150 Hz?
It does, but it's not perfect.
It's clumped together, and it's blurry somewhere.

A "physically small woofer" is the reason.
But "Physical Little Woofer" expresses a clear mid-frequency that big monsters can't.
(You don't have to tell me about the perfection of Genelec's high frequency, do you?)

If your studio acoustic isn't perfect, choose this product, and make up for the weaknesses of low frequency with headphones.
This friend will serve properly.

I'm sure it's a great product not only for video work but also for entertainment.

Best mobile monitors
DonF 24.06.2020
I have had two pairs of these over the years and have always been impressed with their sound quality. The built in EQ is great for using in varying situations, helping keep the response neutral. Add to that the cast aluminum enclosure and the grills and you have a real durable speaker that travels well. The only real competitor I have found is the smaller Neumann KH speakers. Having owned the 120's for years, I do love those speakers, but these sound just as good (at reasonable levels) and fit better in a pelican case than either the KH120 or the smaller KH80. I can get a pair of these, a DAC, and a laptop in a Pelican case sized for airline carry on.

Tiny Footprint, Studio Punch

The Genelec 8020 DPM studio monitor defies its size with surprisingly loud, accurate audio. Its flat frequency response lets you hear "every" detail in your mix. Built-in room correction allows for fine-tuning in any space, making it a powerful nearfield monitor for smaller studios and project spaces, despite the lack of super deep bass. Also consider Genelec 7040 Sub as a must have companion for the ones producing electronic genres.

Really great masterpiece of engineering experience. I found much usability not only in dyudio monitoring setup, but performing sound art and sound picture presentations. Thank you Genelec and Thomann musicstore.

Excellent! Perfect for monitoring! I am very satisfied! Nothing more not needed. Also, mixer, sound card, etc... but without Genelecs sll this are useless : )

Decent desktop speakers
nderzhak 08.06.2020
Use them mostly to listen music at desktop and boy they good at details. I think it is even overkill for most of casual users. But if you can budget it - you will get that effortless sound only high quality active monitor can provide.
Also family Genelec sound is there - meaning this small guy will give you a clue how much bigger monitor could sound.
