This case is a 95% perfect case...
Eric H. (DK) 12.09.2017
I bought this case for my Epiphone Thunderbird bass (obviously). There was a couple of weeks extra waiting time as the case was not in stock when I ordered it, but that was understandable and the case was delivered promptly and safely when it was back in stock. The case itself is nearly perfect - it has a great look about it and is made of very attractive materials. Inside the case is form-fitted tightly to the Thunderbird and the bass is completely protected from all sides once the lid is closed and latched shut. I have three negative points about this case - 1.) It is HEAVY (But ok, solid construction = superior protection) and when the Thunderbird is inside of it, it weighs 11kg...! 2.) The shape of the case - I would have MUCH preferred the case to be rectangular like most other cases rather than this unattractive, tapered form. (I assume this shape is to prevent anyone from standing/storing the bass upside down, headstock to the ground but I am not sure) I could have used the "missing space" lost to the tapered form for the thicker, less flexible leather straps that I prefer to use. Still, all in all, I would highly recommend this case to anyone who wants to protect their bolt-on or neck-through Epiphone Thunderbird bass - unless you're a small child, a senior citizen or anyone else who can't carry 11kg around for any great length of time... ;-)

HP
It's NOT a keyboard case!!!
Hans Peter 18.02.2014
If you want to carry your Thunderbird safely you need a fitting case.
In search of a nice and sturdy one I ended up with one by Epiphone.
As there were no alternatives being at a reasonable price I just tried that one,
there is always the possibility to send it back :-)

The look:
a huge black case with a gold silkscreened 'Epiphone'-logo on it. The handle seems
solid, likewise the hinges and catches. Opening the case you find some noble
looking greenish-grey interior decoration and a quite largely dimensioned accessory
section covered by a lid. As the Thunderbird's shape is in cut into the case, no other bass will fit in!

The handling:
this case is heavy! Being a secure shelter for your instrument makes it a real pain to carry around. No problem in taking it from your car to the stage, but handling it all day long might be physically demanding.

All in all:
a fine case worth every penny but look for someone who will carry it for you ;-)
And be prepared for questions like 'Wow, do you play keyboard, too?'

S
(Almost) perfect for a Sandberg 48
SebastianJames 16.10.2020
Sandberg don't do hard cases, and the 48's distinctive shape, while most of its appeal, does make it hard to find one that fits.

This just needed a small adjustment to fit the lower horn: peel back the fabric cover (voiding the warranty) to cut out some of the foam, then push the fabric back into place.

I bought this specifically to move the instrument three countries over, along with everything else the movers threw into their van. It arrived intact, and in perfect order.
